Affordable Cottage Stay Near Shirakami Sanchi in Happo, Akita

Located in the peaceful town of Happo in northern Akita, Ponpoko Yama Park offers cozy private cottages surrounded by nature. With only four cottages available within the park, guests can enjoy a quiet and relaxing stay away from crowded tourist areas.

The cottages were renovated in April 2026, offering a more comfortable stay for visitors. Locally sourced Akita wood is used for the beds, and each bungalow is equipped with either a private bathroom or a shower booth.

Each cottage also includes a kitchen, making it ideal for families, couples, or small groups looking for a comfortable self-catering stay. Guests can shop for local ingredients at nearby supermarkets and enjoy cooking during their trip.

One of the biggest attractions is the affordable price. Each cottage costs ¥15,000 per night and can accommodate up to five guests, offering excellent value for group travelers.
