Kimimachizaka Park

In addition to boasting an idyllic backdrop of rugged cliffs and an enticing 150-year old story of love, this park is said to have 1,500 cherry blossoms. Spend a relaxing time and enjoy calming views of the Yoneshiro river at this tranquil park of love. Drop by the nearby Roadside Station Futatsui to grab a delicious local meal for lunch during your visit. To all beer lovers, be sure to try their Kimimachi Bizakura Beer―it also makes a great souvenir to take back home!

Noshiro Park

Situated on a hill overlooking Noshiro City, this small park transforms into varying shades of pink during the cherry blossom season in late April. In addition to the 400 sakura trees and city views, you can also enjoy the scenery of the Yoneshiro River, the Sea of ​​Japan, and the Shirakami Mountains from atop the hill. About a 15-minute walk from JR Noshiro Station, it is conveniently located to the city center.

Tahoin Temple

With its origins dating back to the 1400s, this hidden temple is known for its beautiful weeping cherry blossoms in spring. Visitors can also stroll around the Hiyama Castle Ruins Park nearby.

Sakura Niwa at Noshiro City Hall

Get up close and personal with the fresh pink cherry blossoms at Sakura Niwa cherry blossom garden located on the city hall grounds. The trees here are usually in full bloom around mid-April and early May. You can also enjoy illuminated views of the sakura at night. This is probably the only place in the area where you can snap some great photographs, fully surrounded by sakura! Make sure to try some delicious regional cuisine at the yatai mura (food stalls).

Goshonodai Park

Cherry blossoms line the walking trails that give way to views of the Oga Peninsula and Sea of Japan. Located off of Route 7, next to Akita Shirakami Station, this park is easily accessible. Nearby visitors can also find the Goshonodai Trailer Park and Hachimori Onsen Hatahata kan.

Sozaburonuma Park

A large park with a lake in its center, this is a great place for a picnic under cherry blossoms. Located near Route 7, in Mitane Town.

Sakurazutsumi Park in Futatsui

This 800m scenic promenade in Futatsui welcomes anthophiles with rows of cherry blossom trees and azalea in spring. Conveniently located around a 15-minute walk from Roadside Station Futatsui, this is a great spot to relax and take in unobstructed views of the row of cherry blossom trees together with the Yoneshiro River, Mt. Nanakura and Kimimachizaka Park in the background.

Sakurazutsumi Park in Fujisato

Have a relaxing stroll while enjoying the sakura at this charming little park next to Fujikoto river located in front of Mori no Eki. A great hanami spot – thanks to its proximity to many other fun holiday experiences in charming Fujisato.

Sakura Tree Avenue in Higashi Noshiro

Around 300 Someiyoshino cherry trees decorate both sides of the Noshiro-Futatsui Akita Prefectural Route 64, which runs about 1.3km through the area’s industrial complex. Enjoy a hearty soba meal at the charming local eatery nearby and take a relaxing stroll afterwards through the sakura together with picturesque views of the Shirakami Sanchi mountain range.

Ishikurayama Park

The park located in Ishikurayama Camping Ground welcomes spring with fresh Katakuri (Oriental fawn lilies) flowers and sakura around April and May. Although it is mostly popular as a fall foliage spot, it’s still a great spot to enjoy spring flowers away from crowds. The park is also part of the course for the kurort walking activity, so if you time it right, you can book this activity, spend some quality time with locals and enjoy flower viewing in spring!
