Every summer, various artists gather at Kamayahama Beach, a beautiful sunset beach in Mitane Town recognized as one of Japan’s Top 100 Beautiful Swimming Beaches, to create impressive sand sculptures in the annual event called “Sand Craft in Mitane.”

Starting around mid-July, skilled artisans sculpt numerous works including a main sculpture reaching 3.6 meters high, alongside many medium and small-sized pieces. Visitors can observe the artists at work during the sand sculpting process.

he finished sculptures are displayed from late July through the end of September, beautifully illuminated at night. The event also features a lively lineup of performances and contests, a variety of local food stalls, and a spectacular fireworks finale, making it a unique cultural and artistic experience by the sea.

*Sand sculptures will be lit up every night until the end of August.

Visitors are required to pay this environmental maintenance cooperation fee of 500 yen at the entrance on the day of the festival. It will be used to fund community efforts to keep Kamayahama Beach clean and beautiful for everyone.
