Making its debut in the early Showa era (1920s), Jappu sherbet was originally served in large beer jugs, and was a popular summertime treat among children.
This local sherbet comes in a variety of flavors, but the bright pink strawberry mixed with condensed milk may be the most famous. Nowadays, it can be found at the Family Mart convenience store in Noshiro City’s Futatsuimachi.
